O Lord Jesus, Redeem Me! (Or Ream Me!)
An inspiration from Thomas Road Baptist Church, courtesy of Christian Hit Radio, THE LIGHT, at Jerry Falwell's LIberty University in Lynchburg, VA, first stop on the upcoming Situational Tour into the Bible Belted South:
The Holy Spirit is the agent of our faith. He is the one who convicts us of our sin and causes us to see our need of a Savior (John 16:8). He is also the one who guides us into all truth (John 16:13). The Holy Spirit initiates conviction in our hearts and draws us to the Savior.
And guides us through our everlasting faith and holy rapture into the shock and awe of military raids, smart bombs, robot predators, and computer assisted missles... death and destruction in the name of the Good Lord.

Deep Into the Darkness of Fear
Today we traveled south to Athens, Georgia to prepare for an exhibition of great urgency in these perilous dark times, America on the Brink, opening in September at the Athens Institute for Contemporary Art.
Along the way we ventured into the belly of the beast, spending the afternoon at Bob Jones University in Greenville, South Carolina only to find a message of fear emanating from the very darkness itself:
The Fear of the Lord is a Fountain Itself - Proverbs 14:27
It is here at Bob Jones University that the nation's youth are recruited and prepped for service in the Great Right Wing Republican Christian Armies of the Night.
Beware: they are opportunists, they are young, they are fresh, and they are lethal.

The American Bible Belt
The US Department of Art & Technology sets its aim on the Bible Belt of America:
A Bible Belt is an area which Christian Evangelical Protestantism is a pervasive or dominant part of the culture. In particular, in the United States, it is the region where the Southern Baptist Convention denomination is strongest. It includes the southern states of the Midwest and the entirety of the South. - Wikipedia
The strongholds of the Religious Right are situated in this region where such Christian Warrior bootcamps as Liberty University (Lynchburg, VA) and Bob Jones University (Greenville, SC) prepare young, impressionable, dreamy-eyed recruits for the everlasting.

The Legislative Action Arm of God
James Dobson leads in a time of prayer during a "Battle for Marriage" rally which drew 10,000 people to the Memphis-area Bellevue Baptist Church and thousands more via TV and radio in support of a Federal Marriage Amendment to the Constitution.
They are grappling with the social issues... they are working the media... they have satellite dishes across the nation to disseminate talking points... they provide the biblical perspective on national news... they offer tactics for grassroots evangelical and fundamentalist Christian activism... they preach traditional values in the public sphere. They are everywhere, they are wired, and they are strong. They have numbers.
Beware! They have issued a call to action!! They have strength in numbers, they have infiltrated the nation's airwaves and psychic condition (particularly in the Bible Belt of America). They are rallying the voters to insure that government is aligned with biblical prophecy. They are Pro Life, Pro Family, Pro Moral, Pro Active, Pro End of the World on all the issues: marriage, abortion, war, judicial reform and many other critical issues that are clearly spelled out in the Holy Bible. They are a force to be reckoned...

Biking for Salvation
On July 2, Jerry Falwell and the Thomas Road Baptist Church will stage, Celebrate America, a 50th Golden Anniversary extravaganza and grand opening of their new one million square foot, megalopic church enterprise in Lynchburg, VA. The main event is a biker run up the mountain at 7:30 pm, Thunder on the Mountain!!, when a calvary of Christian bikers will traffic in holiness and roar up Liberty Mountain for a spectacle of fireworks and divine praise from above. Be saved or be left behind... in the dust of a Harley.

It's the Real Thing
Billy Graham's followers came from all over America to the Metro Maryland Festival in Baltimore's Camden Yards, for the songs, the message and, yes, a taste of the Real Thing. After decades of preaching, yesterday's sermon was likely the last he would give locally -- and perhaps his last anywhere.
One of those followers who tasted the effervescent words of America's Evangelical Laureate, exclaimed:
"I've listened to him through the valleys of my life, the very low points, and it's always refreshing."

Ralph Reed, who just lost his first political bid for Lieutenant Governor of Georgia, was heralded ten years ago in Time Magazine as the "Right Hand of God." Now his career has been sunk by his own colleagues in the Far Right Wing Fundamentalist Christian movement. None of them want to implicate themselves in Reed's dirty laundry with his ties to the Jack Abramoff scandal. Is is possible that Ralph Reed is not the Golden Boy of the Republican Theocracy after all?
God uses our mistakes to draw us closer to him. - Ralph Reed
Let's not forget the Right Hand of God wields itself in mysterious ways.

A Miracle of God
In a "Miracle of God," a gathering of 3,500 evangelical Christians, Christians United for Israel (CUFI), packed into a Washington hotel to cheer Israel and its current military campaign. Standing on a stage bedecked with a huge Israeli flag, Hagee drew rapturous applause and shouts of "amen" as he hailed Israel for doing God's work in a "war of good versus evil." Calls for Israel to show restraint violate "God's foreign-policy statement" toward Jews, he said, citing a verse from the Old Testament that promises to "bless those who bless you" and curse "the one who curses you."
Jerry Falwell, leader of the Fundamentalist Christian Far Right commented:
"I will rebuke the State Department for any and every time it told Israel to stand down and show restraint."
Hagee concluded, "The dots are there to be connected, and it is not some big thing called terrorism. It is Islamic fascism … all of the various things and forces that we've seen around the world are not merely hot spots but they are all part of a theme – a war against Western civilization." "If you’re worried about the end of times, you need to focus on [Iranaian] President Ahmadinejad,” said one of the delegates.

Rejoice, the End is Near
"This is a religious war that Islam cannot - and must not - win," Rev. John C. Hagee, pastor of the 18,000-member Cornerstone Church in San Antonio, Texas wrote in a recent book, Jerusalem Countdown, which focuses on what he said is a coming nuclear showdown with Iran.
"The end of the world as we know it is rapidly approaching.... Rejoice and be exceeding glad - the best is yet to be."

Politics of Bloodlust
"To me, the overriding issue before the American people is the defense of our population from the bloodlust of Islamic Terrorists." - Pat Robertson endorsing Rudy Giuliani
The Pat Robertson guard of the Christian Right stokes the fiery flames of apocalypse and damnation, placing its support behind terrorist-slayer Rudy Giuliani.
